Introduction

Everyone is born into a community with certain rules, customs or understandings about the world still not many will ever question the rights & position of those things. Religion, superstition and science are epistemologies that are at odds with each other, they all provide different useful things and more often than not they help to create an understanding of how we view our life and the place we live in. There is only one aim to the things that I write it is to show you that you always have the option to believe in things or not, this I hope will be one of the most empowering notions in your life. You don’t have to believe in religion, God, luck or anything else and that is one thing I don’t think people really know – so I will free you by suggesting something different. We often have a mixture of religious, superstitious beliefs and scientific understandings my point is that your belief and understandings have serious consequences so the role of questioning and coming to understand them is the most important task you could ever do. This website is my structured thought process; I have a mixture of articles and blog posts which you are free to comment on. I started with religion because it is the most important one.

[Mother Teresa] was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty. She said that suffering was a gift from God. She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from livestock version of compulsory reproduction. – Hitchens (cited in Letter to a Christian nation).

All through my life religion has been there giving me rules that I should consider, don’t get me wrong the religion that I have experienced was never the strong thing I see others subjected to. Still even where my own left me I was still expected to respect other people’s religion, even though all that I could see was a list of bad things which should never ever be done otherwise this bully called God (or its other names) would strike you down. This is and will always be – stupid! I don’t respect Protestants, Catholics, Muslims, Judaism and all the others. I think it is pointless, useless and rather than offering peace, love or understanding it just provides hate, fear and violence. Religion only exists because it, at every level, tries to destroy or kill those that are not of its faith.

The moderate Christian allows for the spread of AIDs in Africa and the lack of stem cell research in America. It’s the moderate Muslim that allows for women that have been raped to be beaten for being a victim and the space for a fool to learn & commit the act of blowing themselves up. It’s the moderate Jew that lobbies democratic governments to change laws that they should never interfere with and to allow the bullies of Israel to continue. It is up to all of us to attack, not with violence, those moderate religious people they are the ones that commit and support the fundamentalists to spread the fear of ‘peaceful’ religion. It is never logical to leave these people alone because they will never leave us alone, think of how many laws are created or no go areas there are in your society. These people interfere with us everyday pushing themselves and their religion on us when we neither asked for nor wanted it.

Having grown up in a watered down Protestant society, where I had to sing religious songs at morning assembly as a child I still can’t remember at any point anyone asking me whether I believed in God or not, for the most part I don’t think it even mattered if I did. No one should have to worry about insulting Muslims because they would turn against you and act like animals. No one should worry about insulting Jews because they would then feel guilty about the holocaust. No one should worry about insulting Christians because they seem to be nice. The respect of non-belief should be paramount; it has always the higher morality. Although this website concerns mostly this, there is also the turn to science. Science for the best part is something everyone has an idea of about what it means, even though it appears that it is almost everywhere, it’s not always the knowledge of truth that people assume that it is. The exploration of these topics, in the order I have come to understand them, is the main aim of this website. Even though I talk of religion as an overall, I am mostly insulting the Abrahamic religions. I also soon will make a turn towards superstition, which will come later on.
