The McGrath Delusion – a response to The Dawkins Delusion, yet another theologian adding nothing!

The McGraths, although I suspect more Alister McGrath, created ‘The Dawkins Delusion’ an odd book which I read hoping to find some sort of logical argument against Dawkins. Right at the start of the book McGrath expressed a God Delusion moment of realisation,

Religion

The first thing I ever talked about, all about my views on religion and the role that it plays in our society or my disagreements with it.

Science

Albeit a rather thin perspective but hopefully does deal with some of the issues related around science and how its often been misused.

Superstition

Superstition the religion of fools or at least as bad as religion in many respects! Why people believe in weird things.

News

Random things that I have found which don’t really seem to fit anywhere else, not really news since they are not “new” but I hope interesting.

New Rules, following my grumpy life, these are my little moans about the world. Something I stole from Bill Maher!

New Rule: If you are going to criticize Richard Dawkins then don’t be a dick about it… I recently read an article about the evil & arrogant Dawkins, several issues where brought up in my internal bullshit’o’metre. So let me start; for Dawkins to brag 1 ½ million copies of the God Delusion being sold is quite natural but let’s not be scared religious person don’t forget that “The Cat in the Hat” has sold over 10 million copies which is not the way God intended cats to dress. As for Dawkins cleaning up the scientists of history by claiming that they were atheists, I don’t know whether they were or not, still really is that an issue? Umm… the Catholic Church said sorry for child abuse, for their part in the holocaust and Dawkins is arrogant? As Sarah Silverman said the solution to world hunger is: sell Vatican City! I am sure Argentina would take the pope in. At least Dawkins tells us he wants to make money not like those religious farts who pretend they don’t want it but will take it any way to buy more white man bling. As for the scarlet A, which is a pin you can wear to promote your atheistic belief system, don’t get carried away. I have been bothered in public places by the homeless and people trying to sell me shit I don’t want but the ones I really hate being disturbed by are those telling me the ‘virtues’ of their religion. Why I might even say those who are trying to convince others about such religious virtues are often trying to convince themselves. How many times have I been bothered by someone promoting atheism? That’s right, none. Here is a tip: religious people shut up! If you are so scared by Dawkins copy what he does – he won’t talk to you unless you want to talk to him. He does not debate with religious people because he does not care about you but apparently Jesus does which is quite handy because I want a new camera! There is no threat from the new atheist movement because it’s not new! It started a long time ago in Europe and as far as I can tell nothing all that bad has come out of it.
